Ajax brings a league 100% home record to the Champions League clash with Liverpool tomorrow night. With 20-year-old Brazilian striker Antony, and Ghanian Mohammed Kudus ( Eredivisie player of the week) will bring a challenge to the makeshift Liverpool defence. Inevitably, the questions about the Red’s defence are the focal point for pundits and observers seeking to determine if Gomez, Fabinho or Matip will provide stability and reliability, that the Reds will need to mount the necessary challenge to begin a run towards the final in Istanbul, next year.

Antony and Kudus both registered in their 5-1 home win against Heerenveen at the weekend and will bring form and pace to challenge the Reds. Klopp will no doubt have planned substantial resources to stiffen the defence and bring some much need confidence to the back four rattled by the injury to Virgil. The likely deployment of a more considered midfield with captain Henderson, Wijnaldum, and even a possible appearance by Milner, suggests the Reds will look for early consolidation with the view of building through the game and seeking a breakaway victory. This match is more about the result, a clean sheet would add a significant plus for the team than the performance, which is probably the lowest priority for the Reds.
